Counselling: A Safe Space to Just Be You

Life can throw things at us that feel too heavy to carry alone. Whether you are navigating a difficult life transition, feeling weighed down by anxiety and depression, or struggling to make sense of your emotions, you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

Counselling isn’t about being told what to do or having someone “fix” you. It is about having a person walking beside you, and a dedicated, confidential space where you can slow down, open up about what is troubling you, and be heard without any judgment.

Together, we will work at your pace to process current life difficulty, make sense of your experiences, and support you to feel more stable in life.

What I Offer in My Counselling Practice

My approach to counselling is gentle, collaborative, and entirely centered around you. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” method. Instead, I bring a warm, human-to-human relationship to our sessions, drawing on different therapeutic tools to match what you need right now.

During our sessions, I offer support with:

  • Exploring Your Emotions: Giving a safe space to connect with yourself and the emotional world of your body, as the gateway to your feelings.

  • Understanding Patterns: Looking gently at your thoughts, behaviors, and relationships to see what might be keeping you feeling stuck.

  • Developing Self-Compassion: Helping you quiet down that harsh inner critic and learn to trust yourself again.

  • Practical Coping Strategies: Equipping you with somatic tools to support yourself during stress, overwhelm, and anxiety outside of our sessions.

Who Counselling Can Help

Counselling provides an anchor during life’s storms. It is incredibly supportive for a wide range of challenges, including:

  • The Need to Be Heard: Highly beneficial if you have spent a lifetime feeling invisible, ignored, or neglected. If your emotional needs were not met growing up, or you feel like you’ve never truly been heard, this space offers a completely different kind of relationship—one where your voice genuinely matters, your experiences are validated, and you are deeply listened to.

  • Anxiety, Stress, & Burnout: Quieting a racing mind and finding a sense of internal calm.

  • Depression & Low Mood: Shifting the heavy cloud of sadness and reconnecting with a sense of hope and purpose.

  • Life Transitions & Grief: Navigating major changes, losses, or feeling like you’ve lost your identity.

  • Relationship & Intimacy Issues: Understanding your patterns and improving how you connect with others.

  • Self-Esteem & Confidence: Overcoming self-doubt and building a kinder relationship with yourself.

How We Will Work Together

My experience as both a talk therapist and an advanced somatic practitioner means I understand how deeply your life experiences impact your mental and physical well-being.

At the core of everything I do is a trauma-informed approach. This means that your physical,  psychological and emotional safety will always be my highest priority. We will never rush into painful topics or force you to unpack more than you are ready for. Instead, our work is entirely collaborative—you remain in the driver’s seat of your journey. Together, we focus on maintaining a safe, gentle pace that keeps you feeling completely in control and deeply supported as you make the changes you need.

Our First Session

We start with a single, 60-minute initial appointment where we can talk through what is on your mind and outline what you would like to change.

Think of this first step as an introduction to the therapeutic process. It gives us the space to meet, helping you determine if my approach feels safe and supportive for you before committing to therapeutic process.

If we decide to continue working together:

We can meet either face-to-face (right here in Edinburgh) or online, tailoring the schedule to fit your lifestyle and needs.
To get the most momentum out of your therapy, weekly sessions are recommended, but we can also meet fortnightly if that works better for your pace and commitments.

Session Fee: £65 per 60-minute appointment.
